Dodgers, Angels players in play as trade deadline approaches

The Yankees or the Red Sox could see the Angels' Carlos Estevez as a help in the closing rotation even though both teams are well-stocked in this area of the roster. Estevez's ERA 2.45 and he has 19 saves. The MLB trade deadline is just a week away on July 30 at 3 pm Pacific.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers need pitching with Yoshinobu Yamamoto out with a rotator cuff strain. They also want an outfielder to join Teoscar Hernandez. They want either a corner outfielder or a center outfielder. LF Randy Arozarena and CF Luis Robert Jr. (both Tampa).

Olympics opening ceremonies on Friday (7/26)

The opening ceremonies of the Olympics in Paris are on Friday (7/26) but the soccer and rugby matches started today (7/23).
Tomorrow (7/24) in soccer Argentina plays Morocco, Uzbekistan plays Spain, France faces the U.S., Guinea plays New Zealand, Egypt's contest is versus the Dominican Republic, Iraq plays Ukraine, Japan plays Paraguay, Mali's contest is against Israel.
In basketball 7/27 sees the following team play: Australia vs Spain, Germany vs Japan, France vs Brazil and Greece plays Canada.
In gymnastics the men's qualifiers are July 27 and the womens' is July 28.
The swimming events are July 27 and 28.
In all there are 45 different sports including weightlifting, tennis, skateboarding, rugby, hockey, equestrian, five different cycling sports, archery and badminton.
Florida Panthers win Stanley Cup Final

in SOUTH FLORIDA - Despite valient efforts by the Oilers, the Panthers ended up winning the Stanley Cup in game 7 2-1. The Panthers won a 4-3 victory against the Oilers in the 7-game matchup.
The Edmonton Oilers Tuesday (6/18/24) played their hearts out winning 4-3 forcing a game six against the Florida Panthers who lead the series 3-2. In Friday's home game Edmonton will either even up the series or Florida will take the cup.
The Oilers' Connor McDavid scored eight points in the last two games.
Game five ended when McDavid scored an empty net goal late in the third period.

Willie Mays dies at 93

SAN FRANCISCO - Hall of Famer Willie Mays died Tuesday (6/18/24) at age 93.
Mays, mostly associated with the Giants, was considered a complete player with abilities to hit, run, throw and field.
Known as the "Say Hey kid" for the way he greeted others, he played 23 seasons mostly with the NY Giants and the San Francisco Giants. His 660 career home runs were only second behind Babe Ruth.
His career hitting average was .301 and he earned 12 Gold Gloves.

Dodgers hitting star Betts is out 6-8 weeks

LOS ANGELES - Mookie Betts is out six-eight weeks with a broken left hand. The star hitter, averaging .304 is an ex AL MVP.
LA still has a strong bench of hitters with Frederic Freeman, Shohei Ohtani, Miguel Vargas all average close to .300 or above.
